Spring Time ~ Just Love It ..

Hello my dear friends,

I must say, I just love Spring!

Everything is slowly coming back to life again after another very cold Winter. Our feathered visitors are slowly returning and it is so nice to see them again too.

The first duck came and had a little swim in our pool and ...

... the little mourning doves are back as well ...

... being all sweet to each other.

The nicer weather just gets me in the mood to work outside. Our backyard is in need of a little more green 'all year round' so that is what I am going to give it this year ~ new trees! And I love planting trees!

You see what I mean, very little green and a little to much fence but will all change now.

Don't these look great?! I get such a buzz from the bright green color.

I have just bought 6 lovely cedars and I am now working on their  placement of them so I can get them into the ground. Not only am I getting new trees and more color but the birds that live around here are getting new places to nest and live that makes it even better! I am not quite sure if I need a few more of them here or not.

Not only are things starting to grow outside but also inside too.

Last Winter our maple tree lost a larger branch which stayed on the ground until a week ago when I finally cut it up. Right at the end of this dead branch I found a few little branches/twigs that had some buds, still closed tightly and because I am a softy, I took them inside where they now live in my kitchen window.

It didn't take too long and a change was noticeable ..

... slowly but surely the buds are starting to open ...

... every day a little more.

Once the nights don't get too cold anymore I am going take them outside again. They might still be  in water because they have no roots just yet and I am not sure if they will grow any at all. All I can do is wait and see what will happen over the next few weeks, so fingers crossed.

Apart from working outside, I am also being busy, busy in the creative department as well and I hope I will have something to share soon.

So .. do stop by sometime again and see what I have been up too.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day.

  1. It is lovely how just some greenery in pots can make such a difference isn't it Karen? Those cedars will look wonderful planted out against your fence and once they start growing it will look even better!
We don't get mourning doves around here where we are, though they could be in other parts of Australia, but they look so pretty!
The maple cuttings make such a pretty shot sitting in your gorgeous white ware on the window sil.
It's Autumn here but it's just as wonderful as Spring is in my opinion because all the ghastly humid Summer heat has finally gone!! :) ♥

  2. Oh yes ... those cedars will make a huge difference - one you will love, I am sure. I can't wait to hear how the buds do once put outside.

Springtime is my favorite time of year, too. Fresh, new and promising.

  3. Our Canada Geese and Mallard ducks are back in the river now too. So nice to hear them chattering amongst themselves early in the morning. The mourning doves come to our feeder all winter - they're happily twitter-pating at the moment so I'm sure there will be more coming to visit before long.

  4. I am a softy myself.
I just fed the birds, we have over a dozen birdfeeders, love that you were able to save part of that branch, our trees and bushes are blooming now.

    Happy Spring.

  5. Planting trees and having babies are, to me, a huge sign of great faith and abiding hope. My bird feeders are full, year 'round and put out the humming bird feeder yesterday. No matter what the "experts" say, the hummers have returned, as they always do, in mid-April.

  7. Beautiful photos today - thank you. Love the twig that is "shooting". Our vicar mentioned the very same thing yesterday evening in his sermon! He had cut down some branches last Autumn and even one of those was budding when he came to clear them into sacks this weekend. New life from where!? Amazing.
