Another One Of Those Late Posts ...

Hello my dear friends,

today's post turns out to be is one of those late ones again.

It is about a pincushion that I had made some time ago and just forgot to share it with all of you. I honestly can't even tell you when I made it, other than some time earlier this year.

It came to be after I was inspired by this pincushion of mine.

My "Tatty Strawberry Delight".

The look of this pincushion appealed to me so much that I just wanted to make something using some of the same bits and pieces again combined with new ones. That is what I did and it turned out exactly the way I hoped it would. And that is what I am sharing with all of you today, my newest strawberry pincushion.

I named it ...

... "More Tatty Berries"

Old tattered lace, sari silk ribbon and the same lovely red fabric became my berry. This time though the berry lives on a old tarnished piece and looks just lovely.

It even has a little friend, a little sidekick in the shape of a smaller strawberry which is a needle sharpener that is filled with crushed walnut shells.

Not so forgotten anymore, which would have been a shame really in my eyes, if it was.
I hope you have enjoyed my newest creation as much as I have enjoyed creating it.

Thank you for  taking the time to stop by here at Todolwen.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day.

A Little Tarnished Creamer ...

Hello my dear friends,

I know that I said, that I would be sharing a new pumpkin creation in my next post but I changed my mind. This post is one of those "late ones" I talked about when I returned to blogging a little while.
The creation I am sharing today was made about a year ago, I just never got to sharing it until today.

I had this lovely little creamer in on of my drawers. It was a simple but very delightful and one day it just spoke to me so I "answered". I gave it a new life as something useful and that as one of my tarnished pincushion creations. I love the way it looked when I made it a year ago and I still love the way it looks today.

And this is my newest creation.
I named it simply ...

... "A Little Cream"

I hope you have enjoyed my newest making. It is now listed for sale in my Etsy shop.

Thank you for taking the time to visit me here at Todolwen today. It is always so nice when you do.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day.

My "Almost Twin" Pumpkins ...

Hello my dear friends,

I am busy, busy making more pumpkins as I am writing this post. I am also working on my black Halloween pumpkins after just finishing the two that I am sharing with you today.

Theses two lovelies are made from a rich colored cotton velvet. They are again flatter than my usual pumpkins but that is such a nice change in my eyes. These days I am so trying to more and more make do with what I have at hand but then again I am not trying to always use the same supplies if possible and this time it worked out very well in my eyes. Instead of making my velvet singed edge pumpkin leaves for these pumpkins or using sari silk ribbon, I found a beautiful piece of old tatty crochet lace. It was white but that wasn't the color I needed. So what to do but to hand dye it the color that I thought would be perfect. In this case it was a dark olive green. Of course, needless to say bows made from crinkled seam binding would be a part of these Autumn fruits and vintage knife handles would again become the stems. I wanted something special to embellish the pumpkins and then I thought of some vintage smokey colored crystals that I have recently found in an antique store ~ perfect in each and every way for this project.

My pumpkins are now finished and look the perfect part for Autumn and that is what I am sharing with all of you today. They are very much alike and just that tiny bit different from each other,  just like some twins are in real life.

And that is why I called them my ...

... "Almost Twins" Pumpkins.

Twin 1 ...

 And Twin 2 ...

My two newest pumpkins are now listed for sale in my Etsy shop.

Like I am already at the beginning of this post, I am working on a new idea that I have for Halloween pumpkins. I am crossing my fingers that it will work out the way I hope it will and if it does, I will of course share it here on Todolwen with all of you again.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day.

A Neutral Pumpkin ...

Hello my dear friends,

I am still busy making some more Autumn pumpkins right now and I have also started to work on one or two of my new Winter pumpkins as well.

After sharing some of my pumpkins, I was asked by the dear Kris from "Junk Chic Cottage" if was going to make any neutral ones?! How could I not make not one or two from my so loved drop cloth! So I worked on that thought right away and now it is done!

My drop cloth pumpkin is "simple" and I love the way it looks. I again used a seam binding that was very close in color and that just harmonizes so nicely and of course, my new thing ... pip berries have become a part of it too. Because this pumpkin is so "plain" I picked a very lovely vintage knife handle for the stem. I couldn't be happier with how it turned out and that is what I am sharing with all of you today and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. It is now listed in my Etsy shop for sale.

I called it ...

"My Favorite Things" Pumpkin ...

It is just so pretty in my eyes and not really simple and plain at all.
What do you think?

In my next post I will be sharing velvet pumpkins that I am finishing as I am writing this post so do come back and take a look at what I have been making.

Thank you for stopping by today. It is always so nice when you do.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day.

An New Pocket Watch Pincushion ...

Hello my dear friends,

so it was a very early Saturday morning for me to set up our garage sale this last weekend.
At 5.30 am I was wide awake and ready to work. There were vintage books, tarnished treasure and even some of my antique pieces but 3 hours later and most of it was still there.

A dealer that visits my sales told me that right now antiques are something many people don't want anymore, at least it seems so in our city. So 11 am came and so did the packing up of everything. Next was a trip to a second hand store and donating everything that was left over. I was a little sad not to have sold more items but happy that in the end everything was gone and my decluttering at least was a full success. One out of two is a really good result, don't you agree?

Today I am sharing something little I make early this summer before I went absent in blog land.
You will find that there are a few of these "something little's" that I will be finally with all of you. They were mostly made months and months ago, I just never got around to sharing them.

So ... where was I?! Oh, yes ...

... I  have tendencies to save all sorts of bits and pieces including things like short pieces of wire and string, tiny pieces of fabric, ribbon and lace. Why not throw it way? ... Because you never know! I am sure many of you do the same too. On more than one occasions I was very close to getting rid of my "snippet" boxes but in the end I don't and that was and is a good thing. More than once I have found that little piece of fabric or tiny snippet of lace, that I needed for a creation that I was working on and was so happy that I hadn't thrown it away after all. I also have a box filled with vintage and antique pocket watch casings and a few of them are gold colored. One early summer morning when it was already hot outside and I was sitting at our dining table drinking a cup of tea, I was thinking of what I could maybe create that day. Then suddenly it just popped into my head. I am not sure why but I thought of pumpkins. Maybe it was because my daughters and I were talking about what we were planning to do this coming Fall a few days earlier. One of those things was going to pick apples and pumpkins again at Apple Land Station, just like we did last year. It was such a great day and we are so looking forward to doing it again this year.

I started to think of Fall colors like deep oranges and rusts, subtle greens and bold golds and that was it! I had to try and make this piece. I could see my newest pincushion creation in my mind very clearly and I was so buzzed to start working on it right away. I picked a lovely old pocket watch and my snippet box was pulled out in which I found exactly what I was looking for! I was happy that I spotted the leftovers of some cotton velvet in the perfect color for my little pumpkin. Of course this pumpkin needed leaves just like my other ones in the past. So the first thing I made was a few little velvet leaves for my pocket watch pumpkin. They actually turned better then I thought they would and I didn't mind my poor fingers getting slightly singed again whilst making them. And yes, seam binding as always was a must for this creation as well as a small piece of sparkle.

Slowly but surely this creation came together with each part of it complementing the others. It is almost like they were meant to be together in my eyes. But enough of me rambling on now. Here is my newest pocket watch pincushion. I called it ...

... "Pumpkin Harvest Time".
Kinda fitting, don't you think?

It did turn out neat ... didn't! What do you think?

Last but not least ...

... I would like to thank all of you for all your sweet, kind and thoughtful comments that you leave on my posts. It really means so much me and each and every one of them touches my heart!

And finally ...

... I have just listed some three of my pumpkins and also today's creation in my Etsy shop in case any of you might be interested.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day.
