Time To Reveal ...

Hello my dear friends,

in my last post I shared a sneak peek of something I was working which was this ...

... a large tin egg half.

It is now finally done and that means it's time to turn it around ...

... so you can see what I have done with it.

And here it is ... my newest creation!

I am so very please with the way it has turned out.

When I found this egg a few months ago, I knew I wanted to turn it into something special and my dandelion blowy flowers turned out to be perfect for it.

The word on the tag reads "Lowenzahn" which is the German word for "dandelion".
The font I used, is something I am teaching myself these days but more of that in another post.

The inside and outside of the egg have been covered with pieces from vintage doilies and then coated with white Gesso to give it an old plaster design look and I think it actually works.

Again sari silk was so perfect for the leaves, I just love the look of them so much.

With this half now done, I have already started to work on the other one.

The covering with vintage doily pieces, Gesso and attaching the metal candle holder as the stand has already been done and now I am turning my attention to the important part ... what to put inside it? I have so far had three ideas and I am currently trying to design each one of them to see which one would be the right choice in the end. I even wonder which one I will pick. So whenever you have a few spare moments and fell like taking a break, grab that cup of coffee or tea and pop by, I might just have something new to share!

So ... what have you been up to staying home these days? Do tell!

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.
Stay home and stay healthy.

Have a peaceful and creative day.

Staying Home ...

Hello my dear friends,

with staying home I am trying to keep myself busy by being more creative these days.

I was working on making some more blowy flowers for my bunches again but I have now run out of paper covered wire that I use for the stems ...

... and I only needed a few more pieces of it for a few more flowers ... (sigh).
(Hmm ... looking at that old cracker tin my thoughts for it are going with turning it into a sewing caddy with pincushion some time in the future.)

So for now my fluffy white blooms will have to be put aside and wait for a while to be finished.

I am also putting the final touches on a new creation that is on my worktable.
I will only give you a little sneak peek for now ...

... but I am hopping to be able to complete it and then share it with all of you soon.

And last but not least ...

I am also learning something new these days!
I am trying to teach myself how to write the font "old German" or better known as "Alt Suetterlin".

My German grandma used to write like this and I have always wanted to be able to do the same and now I am learning it bit by bit. I am actually thinking on using it possibly with my newest creation but I am not quite sure just yet.

So, now you all know what I am up too when it comes to being creative.
Apart from that I am starting to work in our garden and tidy it up from the winter. I also have a to-do list for some smaller projects in our house so I don't think that boredom be an issue for me in the next few weeks for sure. What are you all up too staying home and safe?

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Stay home, stay safe and stay healthy and have a peaceful and creative day.

Choosing Unusual Pieces ...

Hello my dear friends,

I have gotten picky with choosing things to work with.

These days I like to find unusual pieces that I normally wouldn't even have looked at a while ago and use them for my creations, like the antique piece I am sharing with you today. I seem to have also taking a liking to larger pieces to work with as well as you will see. Unfortunately I forgot to take a before photo but I am sure you will still get the idea of what it looked like before it ended up on my worktable.

It all started with this little butterfly that I made one day.

I was actually bored one morning last week and needed something new to try and so I did. I made several of these fliers in different sizes but then I need somewhere for them to live and that is when I came up with what turned out to be my newest idea and now creation.

I am so very fortunate to have a studio filled with all sorts of stuff and bits and pieces. I don't have to go out at all right now and it's like shopping but at home and you don't pay. Yay! ... Anyways,  I chose one of those unusual pieces I had found a while ago and knew it was perfect in every way.

It is now finished and I am excited to share it with all of you.

Here it is ... my newest pincushion and scissor holder.

I made it using an antique pickle jar holder.

The glass serves me as a little vase now and the lid and tongs are long gone but this piece is still very beautiful even without them and now once again it has a new life and and useful one too.

When I bought the old pickle jar holder I had also found a lovely pair of scissors that day and it just made sense to me that they therefor belong together now.

I can just imagine how neat this piece would look on a busy sewing table.

I will be listing this piece and others in my Etsy shop over the next few weeks. I am happy to put pieces on hold or rather reserved if you see anything you would like to purchase but I won't be going out for the next two weeks as of right now, so I wouldn't be mailing anything for a few weeks, just to be safe which I hope all of you are doing as well if you can. So if you see something you would like to purchase over the next little while and are happy to wait, then just email me and let me know or contact me via my Etsy shop.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

I hope you and your loved ones are all healthy and safe by staying at home and I wish anyone that is ill a fast recovery. You are all in my thoughts right now where ever you are.

Thank you for taking the time to visit me here at Todolwen and I hope you have enjoyed your short stay. Do come back some time again because you never know what I have been up too.

Have a peaceful and creative day.

Please Stay Healthy ...

Hello my dear friends,

just a short message to all of you ...

Please stay safe and healthy.

Only go out if you have too and wash your hands often. Take this time to do all of those things inside your home and garden that you have been putting off. Read a good book or watch that movie you have wanted to watch 5 months ago. Write a letter to that old friend or family member that have wanted to do since a while. Create something or learn something new. Spend quality time with you family.

Hopefully we will get through this scary time just fine.

Sending you all hugs.

Things Are Growing Again ...

Hello my dear friends,

at last ... things are starting to "grow" here again!

I have finally received the sari silk ribbon I have been waiting for. It took a bit longer than I had hoped it would but now it is here and I can be busy again.

This morning the sun was shining, the sky was blue and I was being productive ... a good start to the day. Even as I am writing this post, I am still working on "growing" more of my dandelion blowy flower bundles and I am hoping to have at least 6 bundles done and listed some time tomorrow.

Since the last ones I made sold quite fast, you can reserve a bundle or two if you wish to do so. Just drop me a line via email and let me know. I am happy to place your name on my reserved list.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day.

More Fluffy White Blooms ...

Hello my dear friends,

firstly a big "thank you" to those who bought my first bundles of dandelion "blowy" flowers.
I am so buzzed that you like them!

You actually liked them so much that I had to ...

... "grow" more of them.

I had several orders placed and went to work on them right away. I made over 110 blowy flowers in 2 days and then things came to a short stop. The sari silk ribbon I had ordered got stuck Chicago for some unknown reason and still hasn't arrived here but luckily I had just enough silk ribbon to continue working.

Work progress nicely and I was happy when I was close to being finished last night and then first thing this morning I was actually done!

Most of my bundles have already sold and are all wrapped, ready up to be mailed.

But ...

... there are still a few bundles available and now listed in my Etsy shop.

So if you would like one, pop over there quickly before they are gone again.
I am positive that I will be making more of these neat white fluffy blooms. I just have to wait until I have all the supplies together again before I can do so. So if you would like some, you could place a custom order with me. Just drop me a line and we can talk about it.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. It is always so nice when you do.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day.
