I have been spending a lot of time at home these past weeks so it was nice to go out again for a little bit. I visited a few stores and in one I found a little something that I liked. It was just a little delightful piece and I wanted to be a tiny bit creative and this was the piece I choose to work with. A little later at home and my newest creation which turned out to be a new pincushion, was finished and that is what I would like to share with you today.
This is the piece I took home ...
.. a small glass candy dish in the shape of a pear.
I love that it is such a simple little piece.
It now looks like this ... it has become my newest little pincushion creation.
Drop cloth, seam binding, vintage lace and sparkles were the perfect choice for this creation. It is still simple but so elegant now in my eyes.
I just couldn't resist and called it ... "Simply Pearfect"
I love little pincushion and I think I will keep a look out for another little candy dish like this.I would like to make into another little pincushion but this time maybe using vintage pale green velvet instead of drop cloth.
Thank you for visiting me here at Todolwen and I hope you have enjoyed my newest creation.
I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.
did you notice something different? ... Of course you have!
Since a little while now I had wanted to 'declutter' and simplify Todolwen's look. I already lost my 'baby' once before so instead of doing it myself, I had the lovely Karen Valentine do it for me and I love the new cleaner look. I honestly think that Todolwen was looking a little too busy in the end for me. The background as beautiful as it was, took away from things that were posted at times but now everything is very visible right away. So ... what do you think of the new cleaner look?
Not only has my blog being simplified, decluttered and given a clean look but now my studio is next in line for this makeover. My shelves are full of creations that I have made over the years and there is not more space for new ones. It is going to be a little hard and a small struggle letting things go but it has to be done. Therefore I am going to be listing items in my Etsy shop soon so they will find new homes to go to and bring a smile to someones face and heart like they did to me and mine. I will let you know once I have started to list items in my Etsy shop.
A lilttle reminder ...

And ...
... have you read my post about helping the world's bees to recover and survive?
You will find a grab button on my right sidebar that will take you to my post that tells you all about it. It is truly something every single one of us can help with and that at a very, very low cost if at all.
I am leaving you with a few photos I took a few days ago in our backyard, of some of the little feathered creatures that come to visit.
Thank you for much for taking the time to visit me here at Todolwen. I really love it when you stop by and it so nice to hear from you as well.
I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.
I was very touched recently when I recently watched a short video on YouTube that General Mills Canada, who makes Honey Nut Cheerios, had made.
It is a very touching video about animals that were in need and that were rescued by some amazing people. It brought tears to my eyes. It is so nice to see that there are still people out there that go out of their way to save an animal's life, but did you know that every single one of us can help?
I don't know if you have heard the story of why the bee is missing on the box of Honey Nut Cheerios here in Canada. It is due to the fact that millions of honey bees are dying and not just in Canada, but all over the world. It might not seem so but if we have no more bees, we, the people of this earth are all in BIG trouble. (If you would like to know more, just google 'life without bees'.)
The shortest and very basic explanation that can be found on the internet is the following ...
"Bees perform a task that is vital to the survival of agriculture ... pollination. In fact, one third of our global food supply is pollinated by bees. Simply put, bees keep plants and crops alive. Without bees, humans wouldn't have very much to eat."
At the end of the video there is a message that calls for everyone to try and plant wildflowers to help the bee population recover. General Mills Canada are asking people to help plant millions of wildflowers as soon as possible.
And this is where we all, (no matter where you live) can help, and it doesn't take much at all.
For less than it costs for a cup of coffee or a doughnut you can already do your part.
All each one of us has to do, is to buy a packet of wildflower seeds and go 'plant' them. It could be in your garden or just go for a walk in a park or down a nice street, anywhere really. As you walk drop your seeds in the grass, in a mud puddle or just on top of some soil and that is it. The sun and rain will do the rest hopefully.
If you all share this post and each one of us plants 10 seeds and this message continues to get spread further around the world, we will hopefully help save some very important tiny creatures from disappearing off of the face of this earth. They depend on us, but even more so, we depend on them.
So please share this post and buy a packet of seeds and do your little part to make this world a better place and save a stunning little creature!
I have bought mine already.
I am planning to head out on a walk soon and plant them in the park down the street.
I have also created the special button that will be living on my right sidebar ...
... and best of all you can grab it if you wish and share it on your blog so this becomes a big thing. Maybe we all will be able to make a small impact on this issue.
I would love to hear from you and where you have planted your wildflower seeds.
Thank you for taking the time to visit me here today at Todolwen. It is always so nice when you do.
I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.
firstly thank you for your kind and thoughtful words that I have received from so many of you. You have all touched my heart and I am so grateful for that.
I have been trying to keep myself and especially my mind busy as best as I can this past while now so I don't think too much about what has being going on these past weeks. When Marmalade the neighborhood cat died, it just broke my heart. It was the last thing in a string of events that had happened over the past few weeks that just made me very unhappy. I am working on trying to feel better again and to also become more positive once again but with some things it will just take time to heal.
Like I said, I am trying to be busy and one way of doing so is thinking of others and what you can do for them. Since the past few days I have been working on a gift for a sweet friend of mine.
I am crocheting again and this time it is little stars. They are just so neat and lovely. The pattern for them is not mine though. I just couldn't make one up that I was happy with but after a longer search, I found the perfect one. Now all I have to do is remember where I found it so I can share the link with of all you Lovelies. I think it was on Pinterest but I haven't found it again so far. I made the little star once and the pattern just stayed with me in my mind, silly me should have remembered the link too.
Anyway ... here are a few of my little stars.
They are very neat and the best thing is that my mind is able to take a break when I am making them.
They are also quite small too, just the way I like it.
I won't be able to tell or show you anymore than this because then it won't be a surprise for my friend anymore but one day I will share more about them.
Wrapped nicely and tied up with a seam binding bow, they are already in the mail and on their way to ..... nope, not saying where just yet. Like I said, that is for another post. I just hope that they get to their desitnation soon and I hope they put a smile on my friends face.
Thank you so much for stopping by and visiting me here at Todolwen. It is always so nice when you do and makes my day that little bit better.
I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.
Today I am remembering a special being in my life.
I am remembering Marmalade our neighborhood cat.
He lived around the corner from our house but he loved our front porch so much, it was like his second home. He would be there first thing in the morning and often last thing late at night. Summer or Winter, rain or shine.
He was such a lovely animal and he had the loudest purr you have ever heard.
Unfortunately he is now gone.
He was hit by a car as far as I know early this morning.
I am praying he is in a better place now.
This photo of him is one I just took day before yesterday when he was enjoying the warm sun rays.
Oh ... I will miss you so terribly much, baby boy ...
I am so grateful that you were in my life and that you touched my heart.
sometimes life throws us things in our path that will just knock you sideways and some time is needed to recover and that is where I am right now ~ trying to recover from one of those things.
It has been a bit tough for me these past weeks. Tears were shed and my heart has received a little new little crack that needs a little time to heal.
