Hello my dear friends,
this year I might just skip Autumn and go straight to Winter and Christmas creating.
I am sure most of you know the Christmas carol "The Twelve Days Of Christmas".
I am sure most of you know the Christmas carol "The Twelve Days Of Christmas".
Recently I was having a day inside when it was really hot outside and was thinking of what I could make, when for some reason the thought came to my about the Christmas song and it's words. One particular part stood out to me which was "a partridge in a pear tree". My thoughts then went to Christmas trees and Wintertime. And to why not a pear in a Christmas tree? A Winter pear or rather pears. I had made fabric pears years ago but back then they were primitive pears, all stained and baked. I made a template for them but who knew if I still had it. Well, I did and work started right away. It was all about my favorite thing, trail and error and using neat bits and pieces. I need to decide which fabric I would use, which size I wanted my pears to be and how to embellished them.
I made my first pear but it was too big (this sounds familiar!). I made it from thick wool felt but I wasn't happy with it because it was too stiff. The next one I made from bleached cotton batting. It was still too big but I liked the look of it much better. Still not the right size though, so I made another one this time a bit smaller. It turned out neat but it was still a little too fat. So I then made my third pear and it was just right and that in every way.
The little stalk was something I didn't even have to think about, it would be a piece of a little branch. My friend Lise was the perfect one to got to for that. She has some big branches in her garden and I found exactly what I needed. The next step was to work on the leaf and now I really had a lot of options to choose from. To my mind came book pages that have been painted green or left original, sari silk ribbon, green or white felt or pale green velvet with singed edges. And now which one to choose? Again decisions, decisions.
Well, I made my decisions and today I am sharing my Winter pears with all of you.
I actually made three types of pears and not just one. My bowl fillers, my clip-on ornaments and my traditional hanging ornaments.
And here they all are ...
First are my blow fillers.
There are five pears in a set.
One large, two medium sized and two smaller ones. Some of the pears have one leaf and some two. Placed into a bowl with a few evergreen twigs or pine cones, they look so festive and wintry.
Second are my traditional hanging ornaments.
The come in a set of 4.
These neat pears can be hung from a length of hemp twine and look so lovely.
Again some pears have one leaf and others have two.
And last but not least, my clip on ornaments.
These also come in a set of four.
I am so pleased with the way these wintry fruit have turned out.
I love the less is more look I have chosen and because of that, they would look so neat in a farmhouse style decor or in a Winter white one or anywhere really.
I have just listed all of my pears my Etsy shop.
For the first time, these are made to order and they are also limited because I only have a certain amount of my vintage pale green velvet left over for the leaves. As of right now there will be only 5 sets of each style available.
