The First Frost ...

Hello my dear friends,

slowly but surely the cold season is making it's way to south-western Ontario.
A few days ago I woke up to the first frost and the days are now becoming colder more often too and I don't really mind because I love how everything glistens in the morning light and looks so beautiful.

Even a dried up and fallen leaf looks so pretty.

On the deck my little drinking stations for the critters were all frozen ...

... with colored leaves ...

... hugged tightly by ice.

The morning frost ...

... kisses my last little roses of the year.

Every where you look, you can see a white glittering blanket of frost.

And this was my view when I opened my dining room curtains yesterday morning.

It was a little foggy and so many colors were to be seen every where but that was not all...

... a little cottontail rabbit was resting under our bushes right near the window.

Another critter that stopped by was ...

... this lovely squirrel.

She sat in the shade, on the top of the fence for a little while...

... trying to get through the shell of a walnut.

She got into the nut in the end but decided that it would taste even better, if she were sitting high up in our maple tree in the morning sun shine.

I so enjoy all the creatures and critters that visit our garden and the ones that live in our garden.
It is such a nice thing that they feel safe and happy to stay for a while.

Thank you for taking a few moments to visit and stay here today at Todolwen.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day.

I Know I Said No More But ...

Hello my dear friends,

I know I had said that I wouldn't be making any more pumpkins this year but I did after all. A sweet lady asked me if I would maybe make another one of my purple chenille pumpkins and a few days ago I decided to do so. I must say that I do really like the dark purple color that comes from using black dye and not doing it the 'right' way.

And here are for sure my last pumpkins for this year.

The above one is spoken for but if any one is interested ...

... this one is still available and now listed in my Etsy shop.

My this year's pumpkin harvest is officially over and done now!

And with all my Autumn fruit done, sent and others listed, it is now time to work on some Christmas creations. I am starting to think of little gifts for friends and family. Right now I am working on a custom order from the UK. It is a little Christmas box but I won't be able to share it until after Christmas Day because otherwise the surprise wouldn't be there for the person receiving it. I hope you all understand. They only thing I can say it that I love the way it has turned out. I haven't even shared it with my customer yet. I had worked late yesterday evening to get it done. Fingers crossed he will like it.

Thank you for taking a few moments to visit me again here at Todolwen.
I am hoping to share a few new creations soon again.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day.

Golden Treasures ...

Hello my dear friends,

I so love to work with old tarnished silver pieces but when I found these two treasures, I couldn't resist buying them. I found this piece first, a candle holder and it just appealed to me. It reminded me of a pincushion I had made a while ago. It too was gold colored and also a flower or rather three of them.

My next finding was from a different store and again normally I wouldn't have thought about buying it but it reminded me too of that same pincushion again I had made some time ago. With that one I had used a brooch that was made up from two golden colored butterflies. It became my ' Golden Afternoon' pincushion.

Isn't this such a beautiful dragonfly?!

No question that these two golden treasures will together become a new pincushion creation of mine. They just seem to be made for each other in my eyes. All I have to do I just have to figure out how I am going to do it and which fabric I am going to use and hopefully I will be able to share it soon with all of you.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day.

The Beauty Of This World ...

Hello my dear friends,

this past weekend my daughters and I drove to Port Huron in Michigan for the day and had such a lovely time shopping a little and having lunch. I didn't take many photographs, just a  a few photos on our day out.

We always drive down a country road when we go to Michigan and only take the highway for the last 20 minutes. We would otherwise miss so much beauty of south-western Ontario. Normally I don't just stop at the side of the road but this time I just had too and that twice, once on the way to Michigan and then again on our way back home. You will see why in a moment and I hope you will enjoy them.

This is why I stopped the car the first time ... beautiful Fall colors were to be seen every where.

I couldn't resist taking this picture though ...

... my younger daughter loves photography too just as much as I do.

It is just amazing how the leaves exchange their green coats to the most beautiful shades of yellows, golds, oranges, reds and even strawberry pinks. It is such a joy to take in all of the beauty that Nature shares with us in the Fall season.

That evening on our way home, we were very fortunate to be where we were for the perfect sunset in midst of farmer's fields and a few trees. Posting just one photograph just isn't enough to show you how breathtaking it was!

Our day ended with a smile on our faces being able to witness so much beauty this world has to share and having had such a lovely day together.

Thank you for taking the time to visit me here today at Todolwen. It is always so nice when you do.
Do come back some time ... you never know what I might have to share.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day.

A Early Fall Foggy Morning Walk ...

Hello my dear friends,

remember me recently saying I hadn't been to our park in a long time?
Actually the last time I was there snow was still on the ground and that is some time ago! A few days ago I did the same walk I always do but it is never really the same. There is always something different than the time before.

On that morning the air was cool and damp and smelt so good. Almost no one was out walking apart from a few people with their dogs. The birds were singing in the distance and it was just so peaceful.

I hope you will enjoy walking with me again.

Walking into the park, everthing was so still.

Looking down at the water ...

... a few ducks were in the distance ...

... quietly sitting or maybe even sleeping in the creek.

Here and there leaves were slowly changing their colors.

Cat Tail pond was filled with what I have named it after... many, many cat tails.

So many actually that there was almost no water to be seen.

The creek was flowing very slowly ...

... and I found the cause of it a bit further up stream ...

... one of our local beavers had worked on it's dam.
I am so happy that our city is now working on leaving local beavers to in live in peace and not having them trapped and taken away.

Little maple seed 'helicopters' all dried up and waiting for the next stronger gust of wind to let them 'take off ' on the flight of their life.

There is something lovely about the fog ... everything tends to look much softer and maybe even a little magical too in my eyes. (Only if I am not driving in it though!)

The water of the creek is so clear this morning and the banks are overgrown with lots of plants from the past summer days.

Soon all the leaves will be gone and snow and frost will cover this beautiful place and make it even prettier in white.

More little 'splashes' of red along the path that I am walking.

One of the nice things that I saw was that ...

... even an old fallen dead tree doesn't go to waste. Instead it gives new life!

I have never looked at this place before. I had to go right to the waters edge to see how lovely this part of the creek is. I know my younger daughter has seen deer resting on the grass on the right before whilst walking here.

Further down the water starts to rush and not slowly flow anymore, taking fallen leaves with it.
There is something about the sounds it makes. I would love to live somewhere where there is a creek at the bottom of our garden or a small river... that is a little dream of mine.

And there is the bridge, the turn point of my walk as always.

This time I went a little further than I normally do but ...

... then it was time to head back.

Back over the bridge ...

... and down the long path again.

I call these leaves ghost leaves. They turn from a lovely green to a beautiful white color in the fall and are just so stunning.

The fog was slowly lifting now and ...

... my walk is almost over.

Back at the top of the creek ...

... one last photo of this lovely morning and then back home again.
I love walking here; It is so close to home and such a beautiful place to be.

Thank you for 'walking' with me and I hope you have enjoyed it.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day.
