Tea Roses ~ My Grandma's Favorite ..

Hello my dear friends,

I have been busy again and another sari silk and hemp nest is done and that is what this post is all about today.

This nest was made with my German Grandma Grete in mind.
She loved roses very much and especially yellow tea roses. (I had already mentioned they were her favorite roses.)

That is why I named his nest after her ...

... 'Grete's  Roses'.

I made the nest from the lovely light coffee cream colored sari silk ribbon. It has just like my other nest, seventeen roses all together 'growing' on it ... eight of them are larger ones, three of them are smaller and six are rosebuds. They are all so pretty in their bright yellow petal dresses ~ just like the sunshine on a Spring morning.

In midst of the soft hemp fibers and little pieces of silk three little blue painted wooden eggs have found their home.

I hope you have enjoyed my newest nest creation ( and the many photographs of it).

It is available now for sale in my Etsy shop if any of you lovelies are interested.

The nest is now sold.

If you have a few moments to spare some time, why not stop by here at Todolwen and visit me again, My hands and mind just seem to want to be busy a lot these days and I have a new creation all ready and waiting to be shared with you.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day.

  1. Another gorgeous nest! You are so good at these as well as many of your other creations. Do you crochet your nests? I tried to make one years ago with the "rope wrap" method and it was not how I hoped it would look.

  8. What a lovely tribute to your beloved grandmother. My mother also loves yellow roses and they often come to my mind when creating something, especially when the something is for her!
Your nests are always exceptional Karen, and this one is no, well, no "exception"!
