I just love it when you are out and about and your eye catches something special. That is what happened to me a few days ago. I actually don't go out that often anymore to shop but I am glad I decided to visit out local 'Bibles For Missions' store, where I was very fortunate to find a few new treasures.
I have a thing for old embroidery hoops and was happy to find two 'new' ones but what really put a smile on my face was the stack of velvet I found. Tied up with a piece of rough string and just a abundance of lovely shades of colors.
The pieces are color samples from a fabric design company. The are 100 % cotton and are about 10 inches by 10 inches.

Here neatly placed out so you can see everything properly ... just look at all the colors ~ one just as pretty as the other!
I know what I am going to do with my embroidery hoops ~ they are going to join my collection that hang in my studio (at least for now).
But what to do with all that lovely velvet?!
I see ... strawberries ... pincushions! ... You know where I am heading with this I am sure.

And last but not least ...
.... I have one more treasure to share today and it is a beauty!
Did you notice the little glass 'box' that was in my pictures of my 'Grow Your Blog' winners post?! That was also a new finding. It is such a lovely piece and with so much detail to it.
All I have to do now, is find a new home for it in my studio and something pretty to live in it too.
I am already looking forward to the Spring, warmer weather (it is minus 37 today with the windchill again), much more sunshine, flea markets opening and more treasure hunting. It is going to be so much fun.
Thank you for stopping by and visiting me here at Todolwen ~ it is always so nice when you do.
I hope you are well and life is treating you kind.
Have a peaceful and creative day.
I can't believe how cold it it with you today! Looking forward to seeing developments in velvet!

ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful finds! Can't wait to see the projects you'll use the velvet for. Your box reminds me of one I found at a flea market many, many years ago.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful treat to have all those colors of velvet in your stash to choose from!
ReplyDeleteLove your velvets and glass box! I have a pile of upholstery samples similar to yours, from my Mother's stash. I have some fun things planned for them as well! Can't wait to see your strawberrey pin cushions! i want to buy one!

Minus 37 - Oh ! Boy that's cold, I live in Scotland UK and although it's been pretty cold some days it's been a very kind winter overall, maybe we will drop to -12 on the hills and mountais but usually not more that - 2 in lower parts and even that's not too often, I have prepared my front garden ready for spring planting in late March - April and have cut back my wall flower ( which has flowered since I planted it last September.)
ReplyDeleteSo please keep warm and cosy because that temp is a doozie ! I love your latest finds, and I bet your brain is bursting with ideas. Take care. Mary
I love the glass box! So pretty!
ReplyDelete-37 degree?? Ohhh! I sent you a little bit sun from the Middle Europe. :-)
Have nice and warmer days.

Oh what fabulous treasure finds! Keep warm and creative.
ReplyDeleteYou lucky lucky gal...oh my all that beautiful velvet to play with. Your weather and the mid-West and North East here in the States has been something else. While here in the North West we've had wonderful temps. 52 degrees yesterday! It seems unreal! Look forward to some pretty amazing things done with all that velvet, and something special in the glass box.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful velvet cloth, and your glass box is such a treasure. Thank you for sharing them with us. Stay warm! It's 51 here in cloudy southeastern North Carolina for now.
ReplyDeleteOh Karen... so cold... here it is just raining, but not freezing and I am so glad about that.
ReplyDeleteYour new findings are great and like you I am looking forward to the fleamarkets. Next weekend is an indoor nightfleamarket in DĂĽsseldorf :-)!
Hugs Ines♥
