Beach Treasures ...

Hello my dear friends,

it was the last weekend before school started and an outing was on our to-do list, so on Sunday morning we headed to Lake Huron to spend a part of the day on the beach.

The water was calm and several sailboats were out and 'dancing' on the lake.
I had taken my camera with me but forgotten to check if it was charged, so I was unfortunately only able to take one single photo that day which was of ...

... the sailboats in the far.

The water was quite cold since the temperatures over night are now getting lower and the morning air was still cool at 10 am. My daughters and I spend some of the morning walking along the shoreline looking for neat things instead of getting wet right away. My favorite thing is finding beach/sea glass. It has turned out to be a little thing of mine since several years now with any beach we go to. I make sure that I find at least one piece of glass that the water has smoothend for my little beach jar ...

... and this time I found a lot.

I also found something really neat, special and very old!

I found an actual fossil of a tiny shell.
It is smaller than a penny and it is so amazing knowing that it is thousands of years old!

Another thing I like to do is to gather what I call 'beach grass'. I walk along the beach and collect it. Whenever I take a break from being in the water, I then sit in the shade of our sun umbrella and shape it into nests.

This time I decided to only make one nest from all of the beach grass I found.

I just love the texture and color of  beach grass so much and I think my newest nest made from it turned out very nicely.

We are hopefully heading to the beach of Lake Huron one more time this summer and I am going to keep my eye out for more glass and grass. Another place that we have on our 'outing' list this year is Point Pelee on Lake Erie, again here in Ontario. It is the most southern point of mainland Canada other than Pelee Island. Hopefully I will be able to take some great photos to share with all of you and you never know, I might just find a few more beach treasure too. What ever I find, I will make sure to share it with all of you.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by and visit me today here at Todolwen. ~ It is always so nice when you do.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day.

  1. Hi Karen..
What a lovely image of the sail boats. The rippling waters reflecting the blues of the skies bring a peaceful feeling. It makes me want to visit the ocean; I haven't been for many years. So many delightful sea treasures! And your sea-grass nest with the eggs is so very charming. Some of the best gifts come from nature! It sounds like a wonderful outing making special memories with your daughters. The days here in the AZ mountains are beginning to have a fall-like feel to them and the summer rains have brought many happy wild flowers. Thank you for sharing your lovely outing and best wishes for the rest of your week.

    Hugs,
    Tamara
