Another Little Sparrow ...

Hello my dear friends,

I am not sure what is going on lately but just yesterday I shared a post about how I was able to rescue a little sparrow from drowning in our pool and today something happened again!

It's almost like deja vu! ... this time I am sitting at our dining table at the big window and this time it went 'bang' ... a bird had flown into the window. I went outside and checked the ground underneath the window and there it was, a little female sparrow, laying on the ground and in shock from hitting the glass hard. She was on the crushed gravel so I just couldn't leave her there. I picked her up and sat quietly on our deck with her.

I cradled her in my hands for at least 20 minutes. She didn't move at all and I was worried she might have injured herself badly.

And then all of the sudden perked up and jumped out of my hands. She landed on the deck right next to me, where she sat, looking at me and stayed for another 10 minutes.

You can actually see that it was her right side that hit the window. Her eye is a little swollen.

Finally she just looked up at me once more, opened her wings and flew under a bush near by and that is where I left her to recover. A little later  I checked her and she was still there resting but looking much better. Hopefully when I check on her today, she won't be there anymore but safe some where in a tree and with others like her.

It is so amazing to hold something that is so delicate, small and a beautiful part of nature in your hands.

Wanna know something neat ?! ... Both of my daughters actually call me 'Mother bird'! ...
Maybe I am.

I think we all just need to take a moment,  just now and then and once again realize how fortunate we are with the wonders of nature. With our busy lives we seems to forget this far too often these days.

Thank you for taking the time to visit me here today at Todolwen. I hope you have enjoyed your short stay.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day.

  3. I'm glad you're home and able to rescue these birds. I once found a dead bird in our garage; it had flown in while we had the door open. Since we didn't realize it, we closed the bird in. I was really sad when I discovered it.

  4. Crikey! How strange that should happen just like that. It is lovely to give a little back to nature. Unfortunately any birds doing that in our garden would find themselves in an awful fix. My two King Charles Cavaliers have a thing about birds and love chasing and barking at them. We seem to have a lot of magpies by us at the moment. I think they are beautiful but gosh they are noisy. Alot of people see them as bad luck but I never feel like that. Glad your little fellows were ok. Von xx

  6. That happens here quite frequently as the front of my home is all glass. I usually give the sweet birds a spoonful of water too, to keep them hydrated while they get their wits back. I just put a bit near their beaks and they always take a drink. Then I leave them in the shade, safely on the veranda, until they feel better and fly off on their own.
