Of Wool And Fabric ..

Hello my dear friends,

sometimes it is best when you don't 'pop' into a store ... have you ever thought that?

I have a few times after leaving said store with bags of goodies. Last Friday morning was one of those days. I had headed out to the store where I bought my Valentine tag fabric that I used to make my lavender sachets with, to see if I could find it there still.

The store is called Lens Mills and it is a store that sells clothes, household items and other stuff and especially fabric and yarn and lots of it too! You need a fabric that no one else has in town ~ they will most probably have it!

I have to walk through the aisles with my hands firmly at my sides and my eyes only looking for what I came for or I am in trouble. I will pick up a bit of this beautiful fabric and maybe some of that one too and the same goes with their aisles of yarn/wool too. I kept my thoughts together when I was at the fabric section and only got what I am came for even though some of the fabric just had my name all over it especially the Christmas fabric and that should have been it but then I got stuck in the yarn department and became weak and didn't leave with empty hands.

I just couldn't resist picking some beautiful yarn/wool up and this time it isn't meant for my felted nests but for other creations I am planning on making later this year, so stocking up with it now is good so I have what I need, when I need it. (Does that make sense?!)  ... Did I say planning a moment ago?! Well that was my first thought but as we were waiting for a nasty winter storm  that evening and it was all yucky outside my fingers needed something to do so I already started my project but I am not going to tell you what it is yet apart from that it is something wintry and useful when it is cold outside.

And this is what I couldn't leave behind from my visit ...

... beautiful colored yarn/wool ...

...and I could have bought so much more of it because it comes in so many amazing colors too ~ I think 64 colors or color combinations in total!

And then I found this ...

... super soft year/wool with mohair!

And it's in a lovely mint green color, which no matter what I try won't show on my photos for so unknown reason but I can tell you it's as pastel mint green as it gets. A shame you can't feel how soft it is ... heaven!

And here it is!
I was very lucky when it came to finding the Valentine's fabric that I was searching for.

It is a RJR fabric from their line 'A Special Occasion' 2007.

I was able to pick up the last panels they had of it and right now 2 of those panels are listed in my Etsy shop.

Each panel has 24 tags and not one is the same as the other. You could make sachets from them or use them as quilt labels if you wish or anything you would like to really.

A little tip for you ... I used a Pigma pen to write my little messages on mine.

It was so nice of you to stop by and visit me again here at Todolwen ~ thank you!

I hope you are well and life is treating you kind my dear friends.

Have a peaceful and creative day.
Yours,

Karen B.

  4. Thank you for the information on fabric's manufacturer. Why do I not see the fabric in your Etsy shop? Is it because they've been sold? Thanks!

  5. It is hard to exercise discipline when in a fabric store. I rarely make it out without something. Beautiful yarns.

  6. Entering the door of Lens Mills is a slippery slope! I've only been there once and was on a time restraint and couldn't see (fondle!) everything I wanted to. Hope for a return trip someday.

  7. Beautiful yarn...I have a couple of those, but I would of loved to buy one skein of every color. Our local yarn store doesn't have all 64 colors...thank goodness or I would be in so much trouble. LOL...

  8. Oh Karen,
I know how you feel in these shops very well.
In March there is a fair in Dortmund called "Creativa".
It is like heaven. Fabric, pearls, charms, rubber stamps and everything you can imagine for being creative you can buy there. I call it my wellnessday, when I go there for shopping once a year :-)!
Now I will wait, what you will do with the wonderful wool.

    Greetings from Germany

  9. Oh, Karen! your yarn choices are so lovely. I can never pass by a yarn store without buying something. And how wonderful that you found more of that fabric. People laugh when I begin my Christmas projects in late Spring, but if I don't they never get finished in time!
