Just What I Was Looking For ..

Hello my dear friends,

I just love it when you head out in the search of treasures and you find just what you were looking for ~  I did so a few days ago. I was out and about doing chores with my older daughter and we ended up in one of the antique stores we always visit and right at the end of our visit I found a little treasure.

It wasn't something very special but it was something I love to use in my creations a lot because it just give things the right little touch. I am not even sure of the name of it is. It is crocheting but a specific type of crocheting and I love it so much because you can cut it up into sections and it doesn't tend to come apart at all.

And this is just what I was looking for ...

... 4 feet of vintage crochet lace or 31 individual little crochet treasures.

And I had even more luck finding another item I was looking for and this time it was at the dollar store. I do really like to buy at Michaels but some times their prices are .. shocking! Yes, that is a good word to use. I almost never buy anything at normal price there these days so when I found these tiny nests at the dollar store for far less than at Michaels I was more than happy.

Some times the smallest finding can put a smile on my face and I love it every time and today I wish for you to find that little treasure that will put a smile on your face.

And last but not least ...

... I just had to share this photo with you. Taking photos for Todolwen can some times be a little bit of a challenge when our cats are awake as you can see. Alexia always likes to be very close to me no matter what.

When ever you have a moment why not visit me here again at Todolwen and see what I have been up to.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day,

Karen B.

  1. Great finds, I love that crochet too. Your cat just wants some notoriety here. When I was growing up we had a Collie, and whenever someone, usually my mom, was outside to take pictures of us kids.. he would ALWAYS show up and plop down in front of the group.

  3. Yes, that looks more like tatting to me, love them and love the tiny nests. I always shop with a fist full of coupons when going to those stores. I just ordered nests on line and tiny mushroom birds, they are so hard to find. Got a discount and free shipping, can't beat that!!!

  5. Karen,
I always love what you are up to. I have some of those crocheted beauties, and they were made by Hubby's Grandmother, so they are extra special to me....those lovely treasures....ahhh....so satisfying and when the other day I got to the checkout and my total was $24 for a LOT of items at the vintage store, it makes me so happy I didn't purchase new!
I love your crochet violets by the way, I would love to find that pattern!
    Hearts to you,
    Betsy

  6. Love what you found Karen.
The crocheted pieces are called "tatting', done with special fine thread, and a tatting shuttle.
it is a beautiful art all it's own. It will be wonderful in your work.

Those tiny little nests are adorable....and here I go to all the trouble to make them, when the $ store has them! Well I love making them so will continue...

  7. Love the tattered little circles! They will look so beautiful in your creations! Just imagine making those adorable little nests - I guess someone had to and they are so beautiful and yet so tiny.
I am so lucky to have some real ones from our garden here - you just can't beat what mother nature creates.
    Hugs from here,
I'm loving my little flutter-bys Karen. Thank you so very much!

  10. Is it tatting??? It looks like what I remember some friends doing, long, long ago(in the '70s). Looking forward to seeing what you will create with the tiny nests. Love your photos. Blessings and smiles, Emilou

  11. Ah, lucky to find that tatted piece. I needle tat, so I recognized it right away. It'll be great for adding to special pieces. My find this week at the second-hand shop was a lot of white cotton- a drapery fabric, and some table linens! What fun!
