remember I told you about our fake riverbed in one of my posts last week and that it is a drainage system?Well, we have had so much rain here last night that the drain couldn't take in the water fast enough and the back of my yard flooded!
This started about 10 pm last night and I couldn't really take any pictures because of the darkness and the amount of rain coming down to show you, but I do have pictures of the flood 2 years ago which happened during the day...
This is my back yard without water ....
and this is my yard flooded!
This is what happened 2 years ago. Last night wasn't as bad as this but not far off. I stood out there for about 45 minutes, thigh deep in the cold water and in the dark with bare feet making sure the drain wouldn't plug up with leaves and twigs. After about an hour the rain slowed down and the water drained again.
It looks so lovely and I would love it if it were a lake permanently, but it only happens about once or twice a year and it takes a lot of work to clean up after the water is gone again.
Last but not least ....
I can't wait to post tomorrow!! Why? Maybe I will see you here tomorrow again so you can find out!
Have a peaceful and creative day,

My goodness, that looks pretty bad. And here in the Southeast of the UK, we could really do with some rain, it has been the driest Spring in decades.ReplyDelete
