A Project For This Year ..

Hello my dear friends,

I was recently trying to come with what I could create this year when my daughter Ashleigh had a lovely idea that I was head over heels with right away.

Of course, as always I couldn't wait to start and right now I am slowly working on getting everything for it together. This project/creation is going to be very detailed with many handmade little bits and bobs. I have actually just finished one of those pieces and that is what I am sharing with you today.

 As so often I wasn't able to buy exactly what I needed but that was OK because I love to challenge myself from time to time. This time I can say, I 'won' the challenge and I am so happy about!

I am not going to tell you what the project/creation is going to be just yet but I will share a small important part of it. I am going to 'beat around the bush' a bit longer before I show you what I have made ... hope you don't mind?!

 I wanted to create a special little being for my, let me call it 'fairytale' project for the time being. With the idea in mind and knowing what I wanted and needed for it, I found a supplier that had one of the parts. It took 5 long weeks for my order to finally arrive from overseas but once it was here, I was half way there. I still had to do a little more searching for the second part but that oneI found much faster. At last I was ready to start the trail and error process. I was very fortunate that things works out almost right from the beginning and now I am just so buzzed to share it with all of you!

And now for a little hint.

This old sketching from Disney will give you an idea of what my newest and neatest little creation just might be and if not then take a look at the one below.

This is one will for sure give it away now!

And this is what I have created ... my little magical being!

I took a tiny little brass rocking horse, ...

... one so small that it fits onto a penny ...

... and I gave it wings.

To be exact tiny little dragonfly wings.

 And a little magic later ...

... my first tiny and so sweet rocking horsefly was 'born'.

Oh ... isn't it just the cutest ever?!  I am one happy 'me' right now! :)

And just like in real life, where there is one horsefly, there will be a few more and that is no different with little rocking horseflies.

Where there is one ...

... there is always more! 

I've have heard that they are very sociable tiny creatures.

I am working on more bits and pieces that will join my little beings in my newest creation. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the rest will work out too. I have no idea yet thought when it will be done, but once it is you will be the first to know. So do visit me again, here at Todolwen from time to time and see what I have been up too.
