Have I got a story to tell all of you and I hope that many of you will read this.
Where should I start ... maybe at the beginning.
My blog wasn't under maintenance but it was almost gone ... lost!
Some days ago I was working on my blog and thought that I would like to change a few things about it, including the URL. I went onto blogger and read up on how to do so. There were no warnings really about what could happen if you do so and so I did. I thought I knew enough to do something like this.
Little did I know ...
... not even a minute later I already regretted my decision but ... it was too late!
I lost all my followers ... all 1138 of you lovely bloggers and all my followers on bloglovin' too.
My blog Todolwen as it was known to everybody wasn't there anymore. Need I tell you that I cried ... a lot!! I did.
My blog Todolwen as it was known to everybody wasn't there anymore. Need I tell you that I cried ... a lot!! I did.
I had no idea what to do. I tried to get in touch with 'blogger help' and that didn't work. You actually can not get a person to talk to you to help you. More tears and then I made a phone call to my blog saviour ... Karen Valentine. Crying over the phone I left a message about what happened and if she could get back to me which she did almost right away. She was so sweet and tried to calm me down, which took a little while and then told me what I could do or rather what she could do to help me fix things because once you change your URL that is it ~ you can't go back, it is done!
It took my a few days to figure out what I wanted to do, rethinking things over that Karen had said to me and then making the decisions. I really don't know why it took me days because in the end it was easy. I think I was just very worried to mess things up again.
But ...
... I am back now again!
And SO happy about it!
A few little things have changed too. Now my free tutorials can be found on their very own page.
Just click on the tutorial tab and it will take you right to the page where you will them all.

My wish now is that all of you lovely bloggers will find me again and once again follow me.
If you don't mind I would love a huge favour. If you don't mind, would you spread the word in blogland of where I can be found now. It would be so sweet of all of you and I would be so grateful.
And one last thing ...
And one last thing ...
... I would advise all of you, if you every want to change anything on your blog settings ... DON'T!
And ask someone who knows exactly what they are doing first ... never just hit click like I did.
It will save you a lot of heartache, believe me.
I would like to say 'Thank you' to Karen Valentine for rescuing Todolwen for me ~ I love you for this!
I would also thank my friends Dawn, from The Feathered Nest and Vicki, from 2 Bags Full for having a shoulder to cry on and for letting you know that I would be back.
And last thank you to my daughter Ashleigh who has helped me so much to these past days and always.

Lastly I would like to thank all my lost followers, that will hopefully find me again, for being so sweet and kind to me over the past almost 3 years ~ I can't wait to see all your names back here on my sidebar.
I am going to leave this post up for a while so more can understand what happened to Todolwen.
I will start to blog properly soon again.
I will start to blog properly soon again.
I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.
Have a peaceful and creative day,
Many hugs,
yours,
yours,
Karen B.
My heart goes out to you, I know that sinking feeling too well. One Saturday my blog was simply gone. Later that day it was back up but for hours I was trying to convince myself I could start over. That is not easy. I will tell others about you my next post. Xo
ReplyDeleteIt is a sinking feeling when you go to make a change and realize it isn't going to go well... I'm glad it's all sorting itself out Karen, and your true followers will find you again. I've changed the link on my sidebar and will post later today if I can... or tomorrow... it's that kind of day today!
ReplyDeleteCame over from Karens. Thank goodness we have Karen Karen to help us. I lost my feed burner and alas never got it back. That sinking feeling is the only way to describe it. So happy your back. Your new follower Helena.
ReplyDeleteWhat a warning to us all - I'm so sorry to hear what happened... must be devastating. I'm signing right back up - and I hope you'll soon be on your way to re-collecting all those followers.

Hello dear Karen
ReplyDeleteI'm so THANKFUL we didn't lose you completely....
That would totally stress me out too.
A blogging friend in the UK had her blog copied by someone else - it's liking having intruders in your home.
I've wanted to change my blog name for a while - does that change your URL automatically as well?
I still want to learn to make your beautiful violets and butterflies - but somehow after round one I get in a tangle - I'm a dyslexic crochet person!!!
I will spread the word.
HUGS
Shane

ReplyDeleteGo glad you are back!!!! I missed ya!

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear what happened! So wonderful that Karen was able to help you get it straightened out, and for helping followers find their way back to you. That's how I found you! I would have really missed your beautiful blog, and creations. Happy you're back!
ReplyDeleteOoh, a wee bit scary and frustrating for you Karen! So glad that you've managed to get it all back on track though! But this one is looking so lovely. :) ♥
ReplyDeleteOh Karen...hoping things get simpler and easier for you. I can see how it would be very upsetting. It's like part of our life. Glad I read Karen's blog. I wanted to update my blog background, but couldn't ....could find no help, eliminated just 1 thing, by mistake so Glad I left it be for now. Blogger/ Facebook/ Pinterest are always changing things and I for one don't think it always for the better. Especially when they have NO HUMAN contact person. Best Wishes, Glad you are back on line.
ReplyDeleteHi Karen, I am new to your blog, but Karen has been a life saver more then once to me. She is awesome. She is just a phone call away, I enjoyed reading your blog tonight and I will be popping in more often. Congrats on your daughter's wedding. Have a wonderful day. Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend.
ReplyDeleteHi Karen, I've REFOUND you. If only you knew how disappointed I was when you just up and disappeared! But all is good now 'cause I've REFOUND you. Cheers, take care, have a peaceful day.

ReplyDeleteGreetings from Germany

Glad things are back. I went to update Bloglovin with the correct url and it also shows todolwenbykarenb.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI'm kind of confused now. Which is the correct one?
I am SO glad you're back. When I clicked on your blog several days ago and it was GONE I thought something horrible had happened.. and it had. Thank goodness Dawn let us know you were making some changes and you'd be back. I just came from Dawn's blog and her info that you were back up and running. I can just imagine how you felt when everything just disappeared, but all is well that ends well. I'm will gladly sign up again.
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to you with this issue! Really...truly....I can feel this as I had some of the same situation happen to me. I was changing a few things, revising, and I happen to change the email address associated with my blog & cancel the other one out.....WRONG!! thing to do!! I lost my blog, getting message blog not found, or another message blog not existing, etc etc. Unfortunately, there is no one to talk to personally, and you can only go through their area that you complain, put questions out there, and etc.
ReplyDeleteSince over time I had learned a little bit about blogging, and doing some things I started another blog right away. Took me all week to get that going properly with the pages I had before, revising a few things, etc. It finally got done, put into order, and then the fun of building all the followers back up again......and starting over.
About a week after I got all this done, put into order, then my other blog was released/activated again by Google:( So, I did what I could with that to get that address changed, have it routed another way, and if anyone lands there I direct them to the active blog. It takes a long time, but it slowly has been coming only to the newer blog now.
Good Luck to you, and hang in there as it does all come together!!:)
