Just Because It's Broken ...

Hello my dear friends,

do any of you remember this neat little treasure?

I had found it in a charity shop and I was so happy to take it home with me. It ended up becoming a home for some of my old broaches and it lived on my worktable, by the window in my studio. That is until a few days ago.

This is what my poor little box looks like now ..!

All smashed up, broken and a little bent out of shape as well.

A long story kept very short ... I had placed it on a box close to the floor and something fell onto the lid. It's my own fault for not being more careful. I am not going to throw it away though but keep it because I am determent to try and fix it some how. Hopefully I will be able to glue the pieces together and make them 'one' again.

You see ... just because it is broken doesn't mean that it isn't beautiful anymore!

Unfortunately I don't think glue can save this little piece. This is the something that fell onto my little box.

It is the bird feeder my daughter Ashleigh had made me a few years ago ... so sad it's broken but she said I shouldn't be unhappy because she will make me a new one.

From now on I am going to pay much more attention to where I place things. Again another lesson learnt ~ I hope! If I should be successful with fixing my little box, I will tell you all about it once it is done. So do stop by sometime again and find out if it has worked out or not.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day.

  1. Oh Karen.... how sad! Hope you can fix it!

    Hugs Ines♥

  2. I hope it can be fixed Karen, I hate when things like that happen. With me, it happens all too often! I'll be looking for your solution.

  3. I'm so sorry for you Karen! I'm sure it will still be precious to you - even in this altered state!

  4. You can turn this broken little gem into a beautiful piece of art. I have total confidence in you!!!!!!!! Everything you touch turns out beautiful.

    Happy re-creations!

  5. I wouldn't throw that beautiful treasure away either. It's still gorgeous!

  6. Hi Karen,I'm your newest follower. Please drop by and have a cup of cool drink and stay and chat awhile with Me. I know the twinge of sorrow that comes with broken pretty objects in the home.In fact I have a glass trinket or jewelry box very similar to Your's,most of those types of glass boxes came from both My Grandmothers homes and are tiny treasures of Mine.So sorry for the brokenness Denise.

  7. How heartbreaking! I'm sure though, that you will figure out a way to create beauty out of the tragedy and I'm anxious to see what you do.
