Time To Get Ready ..

Hello my dear friends,

not only was I holding the title of  'Mama-of-the-bride' at my daughter's wedding but my baby girl made me also a bridesmaid for the day which was just so lovely and sweet of her!

I found my dress in the first store that we looked at in our mall and it was the one and only dress I tried on too ... it was just perfect!

But when it came to finding shoes that I would like and that would match my dress ... now that was another story! I am not sure in how many shoe stores we were and nothing ... but then just by chance we were at one shoe store, not for me but for my younger daughter who has a big thing for shoes and there they were!

I found a pair of  beautiful shoes which were actually bridal shoes that I just loved. The word bridal is a total giveaway for the obvious that they were white in color. Don't get me wrong the shoes were a dream in my book but I had to do something about the color. In the end there was only one solution to this problem. Something I used to do all the time when I was younger ... paint my shoes!

These are my shoes just after I bought them ...

The first attempt was a total disaster. I used fabric paint in a shade of purple that I thought would compliment my dress but oh no, it didn't! They looked so wrong that I didn't even take a photo of them but headed into my studio and pulled out my paint box and pulled all sorts of colors of paints from purple, to dark red, burnt sienna and yellow.

An hour later and the color was perfect and my shoes were painted but there was something still missing ...

... and that something came in the shape of spray glitter.
My shoes were done and perfect for the day!

Whilst I was getting ready for the ceremony my daughter gave me a bridesmaids gift ...

... it was a vintage bracelet and handkerchief and both beyond beautiful!
Now I was ready to be a part of my daughter's most special day and I was so excited for her.

But that is all for today that I am going to share with you. Tomorrow I will finally be able to share photos of the wedding with all you lovely bloggers and I can't wait.

So ... maybe I will see you here at Todolwen again tomorrow?

And until then ...

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day,
 yours

Karen B.

  1. Hi Karen, love your shoes...you own them...you made them yours. And that handkerchief and bracelet, well they're to die for! Just can't wait for the pictures of your beautiful daughter. Till then, keep safe. Cheers, Linda.

  3. I don't think my wife ever thought of painting shoes before so I am sure to tell her about this post! Great idea and they look fabulous too! Enjoy the wedding! I hate to admit it but I am one of those dads that cry at their daughter's wedding. It's hard giving your baby girl up even if it is the "right" man. It's like your sign to the right says, "all our sweetest moments fly fastest" and it seems like just yesterday when they were little and sitting on my lap popping the air from my cheeks, lol.
