New Babyshoe Pincushions

Hello my dear friends,

isn't it lovely what you can do with an old pair of baby shoes? These were my latest find  a few weeks ago. Needless to say I already knew they would become pincushions. What can I say ~ I am addicted to making them!

This time I used the pansies and violets that I had crochet and tea stained a few weeks ago to embellish the shoes. I also added some cotton ribbon that I had thrown into the stain before it finally had to go down the drain and it came out in two colors ~ blue and purple ~ how neat! I hope you enjoy!

New Additions To My Pincushion Family

Hello my dear friends,

first of all I wanted to show my lovely giveaway gift I received from Tiffany at "The Cranky Queen". I won her Mother's Day giveaway!

What a pretty creation!!

Of course I would like to show you all a few of my new creations as well. Between fixing my back yard and still trying to get ready for my garage sale that will hopefully finally happen in the near future - I did get a little time to create something.

Here are the two newest additions to my pincushion family.

The base for this pincushion in a tiny cup holder which I found in a second hand store.

This time I didn't use pansies but little pink crochet flowers which have been tea stained.

This pincushion turned out so elegant again ~ I just love the look!

No wonder I just can't stop making these. They are so much fun to make and they turn out so so beautifully!!

Dare I Say ~ More Pincushions

Hello my dear friends,

I am feeling really good again and  I have made more .... pincushions of course!!

The left one is made from one of the egg cups I found a week ago and the right one is made from a little tarnished drinking vessel.

These pincushions have turned out elegant this time and yet still delicate and not overloaded.

The purple pansy and the rhinestone center, which I made from an old earring, just compliment each other so well.

This pincushion was really a lot of fun to make. I love the way the creams and whites blend so gently together and the little blue cameo with rhinestones just faces you with all its glory whilst being surrounded with old lace. This creation really makes me happy with the way it has turned out.

Creating is something that makes my heart sing. It makes me feel good about myself and what I can achieve as a artist and crafter and I hope you get the same pleasure and happiness out of what ever you like to do.

Fairy Dancing Shoes And More

Hello my dear friends,

whilst visiting one of the second hand stores where I like to search for my treasures, I came across a little pair of old leather girl's ballet shoes. They looked so sad stuffed in a corner of a shoe shelf and I knew I just had to take them home with me.

At first I wasn't sure what I was going to do with them, but then I decided to make them into fairy shoes. I had found some beautiful old leather flower earrings at a church sale last year sometime. My daughter Caylagh decided that they were perfect for these little shoes. By adding some green silk leaves and some lace, the task of recreating these precious shoes was done.

(Unfortunately I didn't take any before pictures this time, but I will try and do so in the future.)

I am really happy with the way these have turned out and I hope you like them too!

And last but not least ...

in one of my previous posts I told you about a bag of baby shoes which I had bought at one of the local antique stores. In the same bag I found a small vintage doll shoe which I then gave a new life as a pincushion.

This is the shoe. There was something else in the bag too. Inside one of the baby shoes were three more little vintage doll shoes. They were old, almost completely crushed  flat and very brittle. It would have broken my heart to just throw them away, so I sat down and very carefully started to work on them.

These are the shoes -  just 2 inches long. The two left ones are a pair that have been sewn together with tiny stitches - so small that I needed a magnifying glass to see where I had to cut them apart, so I wouldn't damage them too much. It took me over 15 minutes to separate them without ruining them. Of course I had to turn them into something I just love to create! I am sure, my dear friends, you might guess what that would be. I will show you the result in my next post.

A Few New Makings And My Little Shoes

Hello my dear friends,

I just wanted to show you a few more of my makings and a little treasure of mine.

First of all here are a few new pincushions I have made. They were made last year some time from little trinkets and cups that I picked up on one of my weekend trips here in Ontario.

This pincushion was made from an old tarnished eggcup that I found at a market.

And this one is made from an old baby cup. For the center of the flower I used an old boot button.

I found this "vessel" in a second hand store. I am not even sure what it is, but I loved it because it was different.



I also like to make other things - not just pincushions. This sheep started off as a primitive creature. Coffee stained and baked with an old piece of tattered quilt on her back. I liked it but .... it wasn't right so I transformed her!

I just love the way she looks now! But, she is missing one little thing ...

A name!

She has a name tag around her neck but as you can see ... no name. If any of you lovely ladies of blog land have a nice name for her - please, drop me a line and let me know.

And last but not least (I really like that saying) .... my little treasure.

A pair of Victorian children's shoes.

These were a gift to me from my ten year old daughter Caylagh. She knows how much I love old things, especially when they are "as is" - old and worn. Aren't they just beautiful? I often wonder, if it was a little girl or maybe a little boy that used to run and play in them? If only they could tell their story. I find it amazing that these little leather shoes are over 100 years old and they have survived all these years to find a home with me.
