Of Thread and Bits Of Silk ~ Part 1 ...

Hello my dear friends,

I just can't seem to get away from my Spring bunnies when it comes to be creative these days.

I do love to be creative, unfortunately it doesn't happen as often these days as I would like it to be because when I am busy making something, I am that little bit happier within myself. I love to sew, knit, crochet and also embroider. I remember when I was 5 and I did my very first sewing ... how proud I was back then.

When I was recently working on my newest tutorial for my Etsy shop, I had to make two of my Spring bunnies for it which turned into a sort of blank canvases for me a few days ago. I love their simple but lovely look but why not see how they could made that little bit more prettier.
I love to hand sew with extra strong thread. Actually most of my hand sewn creations are hand stitch with it and I love to embroider with it as well. Out came my trusty thread again and some other bits and a little while later my Spring bunny had a new look.

I wanted to embroider it with some flowers and leaves. I chose a plant that I have a sort of love/ hate relations ship with. I like it because it helps the bees survive, the cotton tails in our garden love to eat it and it's bright yellow blooms are like yellow polka dots in the green of the grass. But then I sort of hate it trying to take over over my lawn. Like I said, a love/hate thing but I think many of us have this when it comes to the dandelion. I chose to embroider my first bunny with it and I think it has turned out quite nicely. My drop cloth hopper is finished (again) and I am so happy to share him with you all of you today.

My little Spring bunny has gone from this ...

... simple and sweet, to this ...

... that bit prettier!

Leaves made from bits of green sari silk ribbon and flowers made from rich yellow thread have turned into a little piece of nature.

My second Spring bunny is almost done as well but that will be  for my next post tomorrow. So do come back if you would like to see what I did with the other drop cloth hopper.

It was so nice of you to stop by today and visit me here at Todolwen and I hope you enjoyed your short stay.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day.

  1. As usual another lovely creation. I was going to make a cat and did not know how to finish it....now I would give fancy embroidery a try. You are such an inspiration.
