My Sweet Peas ..

Hello my dear friends,

I have been working a little more on the design of my fabric sweet peas these days to try and get them to where I would like them to be in my eyes. I think that slowly but surely I am getting closer to my vision and that is what I would like to share with you lovely bloggers today.

I made some blossoms from a color of fabric that my daughter Ashleigh likes very much. It is a very nice shade of coral and the flowers look so lovely. I have also given my blossoms long stems where they now live happily in small groups together and I am very pleased about their new look and can't wait to continue with working on these and make more of them. I am also very excited to share the final design of them on Todolwen one day.

This is where I am right now ~ don't they look just so pretty?!

My ultimate goal is to hopefully create something like this ...

... a sweet pea wreath like this one that is made from real flowers ...

... or like this bouquet again real sweet peas.

My dream would be to create this though!

One day I would love to make something that is as beautiful as this gathering of sweet peas.
I would have to dye my own fabric though because so far I have been able to find any fabric in these beautiful pastel colors in any fabric store I have been in. You never know, maybe one day I will actually do it and then you will find it here ... on Todolwen.

Thank you for stopping by today and taking the time to visit me ~ it is always so nice when you do.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day.

  1. Seeing your pretty sweet peas made me think of my mother and how much she loved to garden. She had just one sweet pea plant that grew year after year. It produced many different colours of flowers on the one plant and they had the most delicate beautiful scent. I've seen sweet peas since but they aren't half as colourful as hers were, and nor do they seem to have the scent of hers. You brought back memories - thank you.

  3. The sweet peas are fantastic. I wonder if you could get wide ribbon in the colours you want, there are so many shades now, certainly here in the UK. Maybe ribbon wouldn't be wide enough - just a thought!

  5. You've made beautiful sweet peas already, Karen, which assures me this project will only get better and better. Love that wreath of flowers...but the pastels in the bottom photo, divine. Dying your own fabrics will give you the exact colours you see in your minds eye for a larger bouquet. x

  6. Karen, your handmade blooms are gorgeous! I'm always envious of those people that could make those lovely ribbon flowers. I tried, but just didn't have the patience. :) Those pretty ribbon blooms always remind me of the 1920's and 1930's.

  10. Karen, once again you take my breath away! Your sweet peas are most wonderful. You might try bridal shops that make things in house. They often have remnants and soft wonderful colors.
