Where Bloggers Create 2014

Hello my dear friends,

it is the first time I am taking part in this neat event and it has taken me the last two years now to finally get ready in time to be here today and to open the door to my studio to all of you. These past few weeks have been full of ups and downs but I am done and ready!

I have taken many photos for you to see everything (maybe too many?!) and I hope I haven't forgotten anything. Today I will let my photographs talk instead of me. Be sure to bring a little time to visit and now ...

I would like to welcome you all to my creative place ...

... please, do come in!

Thank you for visiting me and ...

... I am so happy you came and I hope have enjoyed your little stay.
It would be so nice if you stopped by some time soon again and visited me here at Todolwen.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day.

The Before Photos ..

Hello my dear friends,

I am so excited about tomorrow's event and would like to thank Karen Valentine again for creating 'Where Bloggers Create'.

It will be the first time ~ finally ~ that I will be taking part and I have been working very hard to turn my old craft room into my new creative place.  I have gathered the few photo I have from my studio  before I started to give it it's makeover so you can see how much it has changed.

I just noticed that these are actually the only photo that I have taken of my craft room since I have started Todolwen. These were taken in March 2012 and it hadn't changed much until now.

It went from chaos to tidy in the past more than once. This time it also received a new coat of paint too and now this time it has gone from a room I like to a place I now just love!

The clock is ticking ... it's almost time to reveal the new look of my creative place and join the party. I am just working on some final little touches and I then should be ready!

See you back here at Todolwen tomorrow?! I can't wait for you to stop by again!

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day.

My Old Drawers ..

Hello my dear friends,

as I mentioned yesterday I worked on some old drawers of mine this is what I am sharing with you today.

A little while ago I found this picture on Pinterest and  thought it that would be so nice to have these little drawers because they were just so neat and then I stopped and thought again ... then walked upstairs into my studio and smiled.

Why?  ...

Because of these ...

... my set of flat drawers!
I bought this piece about two years ago in a second hand store for $5 and at first I almost didn't ... can you believe it!? Now my drawers don't look at neat as the ones from Pinterest ... just yet!
Nothing a little time, paint, sandpaper and wood stain can't fix I am sure.

At first it looked like it would be easier said than done.
I just couldn't find any card label holders that would fit my flat drawers so I had to make some fit. And that was easy after all with the help of some tin snips. Once that was sorted everything else fell into place and ...

... I was happy! I love the way they look now.

But those weren't the only drawers that I have recently worked on.

One evening some time last year, whilst on a walk I had picked up these smaller drawers from the curbside on our street and once home they were placed in the garage and left there until now.
With my reorganizing my creative studio and after it was de-cluttered, I was in need of more shelf and storage space too and that's where these 4 'wooden boxes' were exactly what I was looking for. No sooner thought and the work started.

A quick sanding, ...

... repainting and slight distressing, ...

... the cover from an old music sheet booklet and ...

... then some hanging hardware ...

... and my new shelf was completed.

Unfortunately my wall space in the meantime had become somewhat limited so only one drawer was used as a shelf and the other three become storage for my paints and larger tools that would now live under my old chest of drawers. They still have the hardware to be hung on the wall but to make sure I wouldn't scratch the floor it has been covered will felt pieces for now.

I love it when you take something old that you have and give it a new look and all that just with a new coat of paint! I wonder what else I can find to transform?!

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kid.

Have a peaceful and creative day.

New Looks For Old Treasures ..

Hello my dear friends,

I am working on a few little other things all at once and loving it. I have a list made up for every day for the next two weeks so I don't forget anything but also so I don't over do it neither. That is such a good way to get things done.

Theses past few days I have been giving a few old pieces of mine a new look with a coat of paint.

This chair was a $ 2 buy of mine about 4 years ago and it was perfect for that time since I was in love with the primitive look and style but now the black wasn't for me any more. I was very close to selling it actually...

... until my daughter Ashleigh told me it would be perfect for my creative place as my new work chair. Can you believe it that I never even thought of that once?!

And now it looks like this ...

...  just lovely!

I also worked on this old tacky box ...

...  that I found for 50 cents at a church sale a year or so ago. It was all scruffy and had horrible writing with red and black marker on the lid. Unfortunately I got carried away and didn't take a better picture of it before the paintbrush got to it.

Now it holds all my white wool and yarn.

I even found a little something to give it a little more character and it fits to a 'T' as my husband would say. Where did I find it?! .. Of course I found on the Graphic Fairy's amazing website which you can find here ...

http://thegraphicsfairy.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/GoldenFleeceSheep-GraphicsFairy11.jpg

The only thing I did was enlarge it to the size I needed it to be so it would cover the unsightly part of the lid and it was done. And now ...

... I'm loving it!
 (Ba da ba ba ba!)

But that is not all I have been up to. I have also done some work to some drawers of mine and that is what I am going to share with you tomorrow. So maybe see you here at Todolwen again? ... It would be so nice!

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day.
