Hello my dear friend,
with renovations still an ongoing thing in our house, I continue to spend time sitting at my dining room table, trying to be productive when it comes to being creative and I think it's not going too bad.
I had recently bought some new sari silk in pure white to work with and was excited to make something "bloom" again.
I love making my silk hydrangeas and was looking forward to start working on my first one. I already knew that I wasn't going to just make one ...
... so I picked several pretty tarnished pieces for the bases.
A very calming part of creating my Hydrangeas is cutting lots and lots of small pieces of silk which I enjoy alot and a few days I finished my first one and that is what I am sharing with you today.
I dont' embellish my Hydrangeas other than making two hand stitched leaves also from sari silk in a beautiful shade of green.
This is the first "base" I chose to work with and I love it! It's a lid that had lost it's dish so perfect for my newest piece of work.
And this is my newest Hydrangea flower and I hope you enjoy it.
I have hand stitched just under 300 pieces of the white sari silk to a muslin base to make this pretty bloom.
What is my new piece? ... In my eyes it's just a simple pretty thing. It could just be a decorative piece or it could also be a useful piece, living it's life as a pretty pincushion.
(Sorry, that my photos aren't the best in the post. With Autumn here, daylight isn't the same as it is in the summer and I honestly prefer not to use lamps/lights for my photos.)
Thank you for taking the time to stop by and see what I have been up too. I hope you visit me here at Todolwen sometime again.
I hope you are well my dear friend and life is treating you kind.
Have a peaceful and creative day.
Simply and elegantly gorgeous!
