my post today is one of those that is late.
I should have shared this with you a little while ago really but as they say, better late than never.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to avoid getting a nasty cough/cold/flu after all this Christmas but luckily it waited just until after Christmas Day to effect me. In the one hand it was good because I cooked everyone a lovely Christmas dinner before I felt unwell but on the other I would rather do without be sick at all. Thankfully I was the one that got this nasty bug the least, my husband and younger daughter both had it quite bad.
Feeling unwell normally equals not being in the mood to be creative but to instead spend your day in bed or on the couch all wrapped up warm and resting. Well, I did a little of both. My older daughter Ashleigh had seen something she really liked on Pinterest (which had already been sold on Etsy) a week before Christmas.
It was this lovely embroidery hoop creation. It was just perfect for her because of a getaway weekend she and her husband had last year. They spent that particular weekend in a tree house here in Ontario and she had told me how they spent the night looking at the stars from laying in bed in midst of large old pine trees.
And this is the embroidery hoop art piece she found.

This is so lovely!
It is a design made by Kate Veneziano from 'The Beefy Chicken'. She makes very neat embroidery hoop art and you you can find her Etsy shop here ...
Why not pop over and take a look at her work?!
Where was I?! ...Oh, yes, ... me being the person I am and loving to create, just had to see if I could make this for my daughter for Christmas. I had everything on hand in my studio and a few days later it was done.
And this is my take on Kate's lovely 'Look Up' creation.
It has been some time since I did embroidery. My writing is a little off and my trees didn't turn out as beautiful as Kate's. They are crooked but they look a little more like the real ones where the tree house was built. I used an old 8 inch embroidery hoop that had once been stained but I decided to sand it in the end. It might not be noticeable in the photographs but instead of white embroidery yarn, I used silver thread for the stars and writing in hope that they might shine a tiny bit when they catch the light.
My daughter is in love with it and that is all that counts for me really.
Thank you for inspiring me Kate.
I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.
Have a peaceful and creative day.

So sorry you succumbed to that awful crud that's making the rounds. I had it too and couldn't believe how long it took to get over. I love your embroidery - it's a good reminder because all too often we do forget to look up when we're outside.
ReplyDeleteQue bonito y original!!!
