Slowly But Surely, Bit By Bit ...

Hello my dear friends,

slowly but surely and bit by bit my newest nest creation is coming together.

I have been busy working on it in these past two weeks. I had felted the base nest but I wasn't too happy when it was done at first. Something just wasn't right or rather something was missing. That something turned out to be a gray and very soft eyelash yarn. Once that was added to the nest, I was very content with the look of it.

I have been crocheting, gluing, sewing, more felting, cutting and bending wire and also dying and painting too. I am working with wood, paint, seam binding, wire, yarn and glass beads. (I think that was all?!) I have designed several neat elements and bits and pieces for my newest nest which has a Disney theme with my take on it.

Today I though I would share a few sneak peek photos of some of the bits and pieces I am working with, with all of you but I am not going to give too much away just yet. You will have to wait a little longer to see my finished creation and I hope you don't mind. In my eyes it will be worth the wait because it is already looking so lovely and neat and it's not even finished.

And here are the little sneak peeks for you ...

I know, that I am not sharing very much because I don't want give too many clues away right now but looking at these bits and pieces, do any of you maybe have a thought on which Disney movie I might have chosen to do? Let me know in a comment and we will see who is right. I am hoping to have my nest done in a few more days and then I will finally be able to share it with all of you.

Thank you for taking the time to visit me today here at Todolwen, it is always so nice when you do. Don't forget to come back sometime soon again to see what I have been up too.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day.

Being Inspired Whilst Being Under The Weather ...

Hello my dear friends,

my post today is one of those that is late.
I should have shared this with you a little while ago really but as they say, better late than never.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to avoid getting a nasty cough/cold/flu after all this Christmas but luckily it waited just until after Christmas Day to effect me. In the one hand it was good because I cooked everyone a lovely Christmas dinner before I felt unwell but on the other I would rather do without be sick at all. Thankfully I was the one that got this nasty bug the least, my husband and younger daughter both had it quite bad.

Feeling unwell normally equals not being in the mood to be creative but to instead spend your day in bed or on the couch all wrapped up warm and resting. Well, I did a little of both. My older daughter Ashleigh had seen something she really liked on Pinterest (which had already been sold on Etsy) a week before Christmas.

It was this lovely embroidery hoop creation. It was just perfect for her because of a getaway weekend she and her husband had last year. They spent that particular weekend in a tree house here in Ontario and she had told me how they spent the night looking at the stars from laying in bed in midst of large old pine trees.

And this is the embroidery hoop art piece she found.

This is so lovely!

It is a design made by Kate Veneziano from 'The Beefy Chicken'. She makes very neat embroidery hoop art and you you can find her Etsy shop here ...

Why not pop over and take a look at her work?!

Where was I?! ...Oh, yes, ... me being the person I am and loving to create, just had to see if I could make this for my daughter for Christmas. I had everything on hand in my studio and a few days later it was done.

And this is my take on Kate's lovely 'Look Up' creation.

It has been some time since I did embroidery. My writing is a little off and my trees didn't turn out as beautiful as Kate's. They are crooked but they look a little more like the real ones where the tree house was built. I used an old 8 inch embroidery hoop that had once been stained but I decided to sand it in the end. It might not be noticeable in the photographs but instead of white embroidery yarn, I used silver thread for the stars and writing in hope that they might shine a tiny bit when they catch the light.

My daughter is in love with it and that is all that counts for me really.
Thank you for inspiring me Kate.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day.

A New Nest In The Works ...

Hello my dear friends,

I have been playing with the thought of designing a new nest since a little while. The design is now almost done and I am hoping that I will be able to actually start working on it properly soon. It will be made just like my other nests from a lambswool sweater that came that came all the way from Scotland.

I have always made my own themes for my nests but this time it will be a little different.

Both of my daughters love the classic Disney movies and my older daughter especially. Movies like Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan. My daughter Ashleigh thought it would be neat to create a nest with a Disney theme in mind but to do it my way. So I thought of all of the classic Disney movies and I have now chosen the one that I think I am happy with. Right now I am in the process of figuring out how I am going to do this and I think, I am slowing heading down the right path.

I have already picked the the yarn/wool that I am planning on using in the nest and I couldn't resist to start to work on it just for a tiny bit. I am impatient when it comes to doing a new creation and it is hard for me not to work on it right away work but to wait until I have the proper time to do so.

It is going to be a little while though before the nest will be done.
There are going to be so several bits and  pieces that I need to try out and see it it is the right thing for this little nest or not. I also have one order to finish that I am already behind with and a few things in our house that need to be done first but in between everything, I am going to work on it a little here and a little there. I am just hoping that I can make the picture in my mind become reality again, so fingers crossed. Once my newest little nest is done, I will of course share it with all of you here at Todolwen.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day.
