Strawberry Delight No. 3 ..

Hello my dear friends,

just like I said in yesterday's post, the creation I am sharing with you today is my third pincushion in my little line that I have called 'Strawberry Delight'.  Again just like the first two, this one is made from an old tarnished sugar bowl and my favorite drop cloth. With this pincushion I decided to use both seam binding and sari silk ribbon, a small piece of a vintage tatted doily and of course it wouldn't be right without my little drop cloth strawberries. A little old worn button completes this creation.

And this it is ...

... my ' Strawberry Delight' No. 3 pincushion.
I am very happy with the way this creation turn out again and I already have a few more planned.

I hope you have enjoyed my latest creation as much as I have enjoyed making it.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by and visit me here at Todolwen ~ it is always so nice when you do and I would love for you to return some time maybe again.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

My 'Strawberry Delight' Creation No.2 ...

Hello my dear friends,

my intentions were to head into the garden/backyard and pull weeds yesterday but as we again hit temperatures of almost 40C with humidity it just didn't happen, it was just too hot for me.

Staying inside had to therefore be productive in my eyes, no matter which way ... chores or being creative. I chose to do a few chores and then specnd some time being creative. I took to making another pincushion and I am happy with the way it has turned out.

Just take a look at ...

... my 'Strawberry Delight No.2' pincushion.

It is made basically just like the first one from a tarnished sugar bowl and drop cloth. This time though I used a little color in the shape of some lovely green sari silk ribbon instead of seam binding and I think it was the right choice for this creation. I also added some little vintage buttons to embellish it and a small piece from a vintage tatted doily and that is what was needed to complete my newest creation. What do you think?

I was on a roll and after this pincushion was finished I couldn't stop myself creating another one with the same theme and that is what I am going to share with all of you lovelies tomorrow.

Thank you for visiting me today here at Todolwen and it would be so nice if you came back some time again.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day.

Pinkness ~ Part 1 ..

Hello my dear friends,

some months ago I had seen this beautiful pink sari silk ribbon and just I had to buy it without really knowing how I was going to use it for.

(photograph courtesy of designtalentedone on Etsy)

I put it into a basket in my studio and left it there for weeks before deciding what to do with it in the end. I had gone with a thought I had had  a while ago, that it might be neat to turn this beautiful silk ribbon into a few new sari silk ribbon and hemp nests and that I would go all the way with the theme of  'pinkness'.

I made many singed edge roses of different shades of pinks and types of fabrics ...

... and two nests using the pink sari silk ribbon and one from a beautiful light off-white sari silk.

I even painted some of the wooden eggs ...

... a pale pink color ~like I said I thought I would go all the way with the theme of  'pinkness'.

This whole idea with the pink thing started after last Easter when I had bought candy covered chocolate eggs and there were some in this beautiful pale pink color which looked so lovely and that was it ...

... they idea of 'going pink' and these are those chocolate eggs, I have saved them to inspire me and now they have.

The nests are not quite finished just yet. I am still working on the overall look but I am hoping to have them completed soon when I will of course share them with all you lovely bloggers here on Todolwen.

On another note ...

... it seems that whenever I try and get some photos taken, which I normally do on my worktable, one of our cats feels the need to be close to me which I love so much. This time it was our cat Iris. I must say that she was so nice to wait until I was done this time with taking my photographs before she made herself comfortable on my worktable and fell asleep for a few hours.

Isn't she just so sweet?!

She is like a little black furry angel sleeping so peacefully. I could sit and just watch her for hours  like this but unfortunately I don't have the time to do so ~ too many things I want to create. I will sit for a little bit the next time though and just enjoy it.

It was so nice of you to stop by and visit me here at Todolwen today and I hope you enjoyed it.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day.

My 'Timeworn Treasure' ~ A New Pincushion ..

Hello my dear friends,

today I am sharing my latest creation which is my newest pincushion made from a Evans table lighter housing. It is the second piece I had bought off eBay and just like the first one (the pineapple lighter housing) I just couldn't resist working with it right away.

Unfortunately I didn't find a photo of the lighter when it was in perfect condition but this is it before I worked with it ...

... so beautiful even with all the missing enamel, being tarnished and a broken finial.

Now it looks like this ...

... so lovely!

I named this creation ... ' Timeworn Treasure'.

I enjoyed creating my newest pincushion so much and I hope you have enjoyed too.
Vintage table lighters are now on my 'hot list' ~ I would love to make a few more of these neat and special pincushions. This one is already sold.

Before I forget ... tomorrow on July 21st I will be announcing the winner of my 'Christmas To Come' 2015 giveaway, so if you haven't entered your name yet, there is still a little time. Just click on the button on my right sidebar and leave a comment. Good luck to all of you!
